Welcome ECIS Customers

The Diamond Lane would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our service. We are doing everything that we can to make this changeover as smooth and trouble free as possible for you. This page will explain the changes in your services with the changeover from ECIS to The Diamond Lane.

WEBMAIL AND SPAM BLOCKING

Webmail can now be accessed at http://ecis.com/webmail - If you are using the webmail to view your domain email, replace the server name with your domain name.

The spam blocker can now be accessed at http://ecis.com/manager, along with the the anti-virus and password change functions. Just use your logon name and password as you always have.

You will be able to retain your @ecis.com address and your server settings will remain the same at this time.

Programs to assist in regaining control of your computer:

The explosion of spam, pop-ups, spy-ware, ad-ware, and other intrusive and unethical advertising methods has become serious enough that we are getting many support calls about these problems. First, understand that these have nothing to do with your choice of Internet Service Provider. These "features" are either present in Web pages you visit and e-mails you receive, are installed as part of some program you intended to install, or they are installed by a Web page or a malicious e-mail without your knowledge.

Spy-ware is software that mails information about you to interested third parties. Ad-ware generates pop-up ads on your computer as soon as you connect to the Internet. In most cases, these will be present on your computer without you even knowing it. The only way to stop these is to install special third party software to deal with them, much in the same way that you should be using a good virus filter program to protect your computer from viruses.

The following programs are solutions that we have heard good things about. For each of the problems, many solutions are possible, and some are probably just as good. We have no affiliation with these companies, and can't assist with their installation and use, but decided it was time to provide some options that might help you regain control of your Internet experience.

A brief message from ECIS

ECIS has made every effort to upgrade, improve and bring YOU the very best the Internet offers. ECIS has, for 7 years been honored to bring the very best local Internet access available to the east bay. Having reached the limit of what we, as ECIS, can bring you, we asked ourselves “How can we make it better?” The answer was simple, The Diamond Lane (tdl.com). A lot of you will remember tdl.com from the many years they provided news services and secondary name server resources to ECIS. Even though this means that ECIS will cease operations, TDL will be taking over ECIS dial up and web-hosting clients providing you with more services, more options and more value. We are pleased to pass the torch to a provider that not only shares the same high quality business ethics, but one that has the facilities to give the previous ECIS customers everything they need and more.

Thank You,
Jesse, Shirley, Chris and Sam.

For Tech support, those customers still local to the 925-706-4280 can continue to call in on that number. You do not need to dial 510-782-6825 (TDL support) at this time.

Welcome

The Diamond Lane welcomes all of you to the TDL family and looks forward to meeting your Internet needs. We understand that this transition is sudden, and that some changes need to be made immediately. In the midst of this temporary inconvenience lies a real positive, it will be over quick. This gives everyone more time in the long run to start expanding and taking full advantage of what TDL can do for you. Hopefully, you will be as glad to be with us as we are to be with you.

What Really Changes?

  1. First of all, let's make one thing clear. TDL will be honoring all pricing plans you had with ECIS and in many cases we can come up with a more affordable plan for you. So rest assured, you will not be paying more, most of you will be getting more.

Reminder, make checks payable to "The Diamond Lane" and mail to:

    The Diamond Lane
    2415 Radley Court
    #1
    Hayward, CA 94545

  2. Changes to be made Immediately.

    • Make payments and checks payable to TDL Immediately. Checks made out to ECIS will no longer be valid.
    • You will need to reconfigure your computers to dial the new local phone numbers available in more cities around the state. New phone numbers can be found below.
    • You will also need to change the mail servers, name servers and news server addresses. More info on how to do this can be found below.
    • Newer, sleeker, more feature filled version of webmail is available NOW at http://ecis.com/webmail If you are using the webmail to view your domain email, replace the server name with your domain name.
    • Continuing the strict crackdown on annoying spam, the spam blocking features can now be accessed at http://ecis.com/spamblock Just use your logon name and password as you always have.
    • You will be able to retain your @ecis.com address and server settings are going to remain the same at this time.

  3. Those with hosted domain names will gradually be moved to tdl servers. The following NEW improved services will be available (this is where things start to get real good).

    • Self Managed Mail accounts. Add, remove, and change passwords on all your mail accounts yourself with a web interface. YOU make all the changes and they will take effect immediately.
    • PHP is supported.
    • MySQL databases with interfaces YOU administer and control.
    • An improved and updated Daily Stats page for monitoring your web site.
    • Daily Backups and emergency recovery systems.
    • SSL and Secure Certificates

  4. Those Customers Web-hosting on the NT servers will be offered accounts on the TDL Linux boxes with mySQL databases. TDL is a Microsoft free zone and will not be supporting the Microsoft Platforms. The few accounts hosted on this server will need to make arrangements for relocation before March 21st, 2003.
