first, CFRD may have different causes, but high sugars cause damage in anyone's blood vessels and nerves, so it should be managed as much as possible. What makes it hard is that our absorption of nutrients varies, which affects how much sugar we take in, as well as all the other variables such as activity and infection level and steroid use.
I'm very sensitive to insulin (a tiny bit goes a long way) but without a basal dose of long-acting insulin, I wake up with high sugars, so that's different from Nichole's situation.
But nerve damage (which is what your initial question is) takes years and years of high-sugars to develop, so your foot issue most likely isn't due to possible diabetes.
