That's a horrible situation! I have experienced the ringing in the ears caused by high concentrations of tobramyacin in the past, but luckily it has subsided over time. I am SO releuctant to go on any anitbioticts now...seems like the side effects are more of a pain than actually having CF. I guess I'm healthy and fortunate enough that I can have the luxury of looking at it that way! The last couple times I've had colds that turned into lung infections, I've been able to get over them with out antibioticts...took a little longer, but I have comfort in knowing that my immune system has not been comprimised and I didn't have to worry about building up resistancies for when I get REALLY sick. Like I said, I'm pretty fortunate!

I'm a little confused by you saying your pft's are "down to 82"! 82 seems pretty high to me (I'm usually between 67 and 70), and I would kill to be at 82! As I said, I'm pretty dang healthy and really don't have a lot of daily respiratory problems like most 34 year old people with CF do. If you are "down to 82" why were you on antibioticts at all? Maybe I'm missing something here?

Good luck Jamie!

Adam
