I was on it for years...on the monthly rotations. I have never been what I consider to be a "sick" CFer, so usually when my doc prescribes a regiment like that it's more for a long term maintenance routine. When I first started using it, I responded well to it, but the first few months it started to give me the sore throat and a little bit of tightness. That went away after about 6 months. I was on it for probably about 4 years, and then I just felt like it wasn't doing anything for me...I may have built up resistences to it...don't really recall. I've been on Pulmozyme ever since and it seems to work better for me. I know it's not an antibiotic, but it does it's job. I'm not big on antibiotics, and I only agree to take them when absolutely necessary to avoid building up the resistences and dealing with all the side effects. I gave in and am now trying Cayston, but after 2 months of it, I'm really not sure if it's doing me any good...plus it's rediculously expensive...around $5,000 for a month's supply...thank God I've got the state of CA paying for it! At 35, I'm fortunate that my body still has the ability to fight off a lot of the bugs on it's own.
Good luck!
