Narcissus

		Dead
			but triumphant Autumn leaves
				lying face down
					in rainbow pools
						of mountain water.

This is what my life is about.
			It's more dangerous
				than snails crawling
					across wet concrete
						at night.

		Just be yourself,
accept others for what they are,
				their values,
					from all angles.

		Refusing to pick up strangers
			on a one-way street.

		This is more beautiful
			than a mountain forest
				cut down by fire,
					turned to ash,
						regenerated by years of growth
							and not nearly as tragic.
