Red Ribbon Week….
Oct. 21-31
Parents, Teachers, we would like to invite you to join this years Parent Teacher Club. We are still in need of a Vice President, as Emelia Lopez volunteered for Membership at our last PTC meeting, Thank you Emelia! We had 28 families at our last meeting, thank you so much for coming!
FUNDRAISER - Success! We want to thank all of you for your help. Together we accumulated $17,612. Shafer Park gets to keep 52% for a total of $9,158. Excellent work! You have shown your support; this will help your children get the materials needed to succeed!
October is Membership Month. We sent our Membership letters and envelopes this week. If you did not receive an envelope we have placed extra copies in the office. Your Membership Fee is important because every dollar collected will be given back for the success of your children.
Fall Fun- Fall Poems and Pumpkin Spice!
We are introducing a new way to have fun this year during Fall. Writing is essential in the success of our kids, so we have decided to give the children an opportunity to be creative. Please prepare a simple poem that is representative of “Fall Festivities.” Prizes will be awarded for the most creative and unusual poems. We will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for both Intermediate and Primary grades. Poems are due October 22nd to allow enough time for the judges to vote. Entry forms on the PTC bulletin board. Once you’re done, place it in the Fall Festivities box by office. In addition, we are also inviting you to carve, decorate or paint a jack-o-lantern. These will be done at home and brought to school in the morning on October 24th. Scafer Park students will do judging during recess. This contest will also have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for both Intermediate and Primary grades. The winners will be announced before the end of day on the 24th. Prizes will be given for both the poetry contest and jack-o-lantern extravaganza! Have fun and be creative!
Story Teller! Get your sleeping bags and bring your pillows! We are having a wonderful and exciting storyteller coming to our next Parent Teacher’s Club meeting. This will be an event you won’t want to miss, so tell one tell all!! The storyteller will begin after our initial meeting; which starts at 6:30, on November 19th. Please note, this is the 3rd Wednesday of the month and not during our regularly scheduled timeframe.
Treasury Update: Correction: The Boosters contributed $1,000 towards the testing booklets PTC ordered for the CAT 6 test last year. They also purchased playground balls to be used by our kids for $908. Sorry for the error, we want to give credit where credit is due. We greatly appreciate the help we received from the Boosters.
ELC: The last school newsletter made mention of the classes being offered at Tennyson High School. We would like to emphasize the importance of this in the success our your children. For those parents that have younger children, preparing your kids for school is essential in the learning process. We encourage you to attend to get more information.
Thanks! To Jackie the custodian and several students, for helping to create the Back to School Night banners – we appreciate your hard work!
