Schafer Park Parents and Teachers…………In the News!!!

Welcome Back – We hope you all had a wonderful holiday break and look forward to the remaining six months of school.

Coat Drive - Success! We want to thank all of the families, teachers and staff members that helped out with the coat drive. We collected a total of 50 coats! We were able to help two Schafer Park families and the rest of the coats were donated to the Emergency Shelter Program and FESCO. We were happy to have so many of you to make a difference in our community, splendid job and many thanks!

Membership Gifts! The PTC passed out membership gifts at our last meeting; however for those of you that were not in attendance, we have sent them to your child’s classroom. Thanks for all of your support. If you have any questions about these, please leave a message in our PTC mailbox at the school.

Turkey Raffle- In addition to the membership gifts, we were able to raffle off five turkeys to the families that came to the meeting last month. Thanks for showing your support and coming out in the cold weather!

Kindergarten Survey: Please look for the survey we mentioned in last month’s newsletter for those parents who have younger children that will be entering kindergarten Fall 2004. We need to get feedback, so we may plan these important workshops.

Up and coming: The International Dessert Night event has been scheduled for April 30th. We are seeking some parents to help teach a dance from your culture. Please let us know if you would like to teach a dance. Please note that we will also need helpers and volunteers to make this event run smoothly. Your child may be required to learn a new dance. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Monthly Meeting: Come and get some ideas on, putting the “care” in character. We have some articles and ideas through our Home & School Connection flyers that may be fun to explore with your children during the cold winter days. Some of the ideas speak on identification with “heroes” and how to make effective choices. Hope to see you there.

PTC Supports Your Teams: We are pleased to help support the Girls and Boys Basketball teams again this year. The PTC has given $267.50 to the girls Basketball Team and $330 to the Boys Basketball. We would also like to wish both teams good luck!

Student Council Information: SC will be selling Valentine Grahams next month, look for more information on this to come.

Box Tops!!!: Don’t forget to collect box tops and bring them in. The more we collect the more money for the school!
