SBDM: Come listen to our wonderful teacher liaison, Mrs. Elliott, talk about SBDM, which stands for Site Based Decision Making. Our school has formed this type of committee, this year and she and the PTC want you to come and learn what it is and means to our school, our kids.
Buy a T-Shirt; support our science program and help save a Rainforest! Mrs. Souto will talk about ways to help our science program and Save Rainforests, come, listen and learn how you too can help!
Thank you to Mrs. Herrera: Mrs. Herrera spoke at our last meeting and presented information to our parents about being a Title I school. Informational brochures were passed out and several parents questions were answered. Thank you Mrs. Herrera. For more information on our school visit

Thank you Professor Francisco Zermeño! Professor Francisco Zermeño gave a wonderful speech on how to help our kids get the most of their education. His focus was to learn, unite and inform ourselves on how can we help our children on the road to college and a successful life! He gave suggestions to our Hispanic parents on becoming stronger voices in their childrens lives and in the community, on the road to higher learning.
QSP/Catalog Fundraiser: The PTC has voted to give the money rose in this fundraiser; to help supplement the money from the district in an effort to help all of our Schafer Park kids and families. Each teacher will receive $12 dollars per student; to be used in whatever way the teacher sees fit to accommodate all children. We wish it were more; however our fundraiser profits fell short this year.
Cookie Dough Fundraiser: Brought in a total of $4719.00, which will be partially used to purchase our new sign and also for our Attendance Incentives and prizes.
New Sign: The PTC has purchased a new sign for Schafer Park, totaling $5,030 and it will be used to inform our families and community about events at our school. Here is a miniature picture of what you can look forward to by the end of this school year. The sign has a four-foot skirt and is 4 X 8 feet, two-sided and lit.
Awards: The PTC will distribute Perfect Attendance Awards and Outstanding Attendance awards to those children that meet these criteria. We will do this at the end of each trimester. In addition, we will give the awards to those students that raised the most money in the QSP Fundraiser, Cookie Dough Fundraiser and the Box Top collection. The classrooms that placed in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, will also be awarded; however they will receive a credit on their account, in increments of: $100, $50 and $30, to be used however the teacher wishes.
January Meeting: Third Wednesday of the month we will present information to you about API/AYP and where our school stands. Please look for this information and mark your calendar to attend. You will not want to miss this PTC meeting, on January 19th, 2005!
COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER: Returning December 9th. Please plan to pick it up between 9:30 a.m and 2:00 pm.
