Back to School Success! We want to thank all of you for taking the time to listen to the PTC’s announcements at the Back To School Night. We were very excited to see so much enthusiasm and we look forward to an exciting year at Schafer Park. We acquired a new member to our team, Kerrie Wright has stepped up to the position of V.P. and we welcome her most graciously. Please note that we still have open positions and can use your help. Please review the information on the reverse of this newsletter to let us know how you would like to help, even if it’s just once.
QSP/Catalog Fundraiser:
Don’t forget to turn in your orders! We will collect ALL ENVELOPES and ORDERS on Monday, October 11th. Please make checks payable to: Schafer Park PTC, as we will send in one check. Profits from this fundraiser will go directly to each child’s classroom, so ask your family, friends, and co-workers and even out of the area family to help raise money for our kid’s educational needs. Thank you to students from Mr. Tirrell’s class and to Elroy Porchina, our evening custodian, for their help passing out the fundraising packets to our teachers on Thursday September 16th, we appreciate all those that help the PTC.
Congratulations to the winners of the Magazine booklets drawing. Thanks to everyone who participated and returned the magazine postcards!
PTC Donations: Please find, included with this newsletter a request for donation to the Parent Teacher Club. Your donation goes directly to all children at Schafer Park to help cover the educational costs in every child’s classroom and goals set forth below.
Goals: Attendance: The PTC has decided to step in with incentives to help children come to school. Every Trimester those children who have Perfect Attendance, will receive a “Perfect Attendance,” Dog Tag, on a 24” necklace. We will also give a recognition prize to those kids receiving Outstanding Attendance, however only those with Perfect Attendance will receive the necklaces. This will be done every Trimester, so if your child has been out sick, please try to get them to school. If you schedule doctors/dentists appointments in the afternoon, your child can still be eligible, providing you have excused them through the Attendance Office.
API/AYP: You should soon receive results in the mail regarding your child(s) performance on the Star and CAT 6, from last school year. Since this is very important, the PTC has requested the district office send someone to explain how to interpret the results of these tests to you. We hope to cover this at the October 13th meeting; otherwise it will be next month.
Box-Tops for Education: Thank you Deisy Bates, Emilia Lopez and Marisol Gomez for your outstanding work on the Bulletin, letters and obtaining the containers for this important opportunity for our school. We especially want to thank Ms. Gomez for donating the plastic containers and affixing the labels, they are wonderful and we appreciate volunteers like you! Sign up with your email address and earn Box Tops for our school! By signing up at www.boxtops4education.com and sponsoring Schafer Park in their Booster Club, our school will receive extra points! No purchase is necessary.
Red Ribbon Week – October 24th-31st: Mark your calendars and get ready, it’s almost here! Red Ribbon Week announcements will be sent out soon, however get your Schafer Park T-Shirt and wear it to collect your special treats donated by the PTC. Complete the order form, enclose cash/check and have it delivered to your child’s class! You can also call Ms. Brenner, 780-9465 to have it personally delivered.
Don't forget to buy your Schafer Park T-Shirt! Adults $10.00 and kids are $8.00. Buy one at our next meeting to show your spirit and support! Be prepared for Red Ribbon Week.
NEXT PTC MEETING: October 13th, 6:30 p.m. We will have childcare available with snack and movie. We will raffle a T-Shirt at this meeting and you can gain valuable information, PLEASE COME AND JOIN US!
Check out our new Banners! We would like to thank Mrs. Contreras, who was able to get two for the price of one through JB Signs and thanks to JB Signs for the donation.

Parent Teacher Club
Donation Drive
http://www.tdl.com/~schafer/
The Parent Teacher Club would like to extend and invitation to all parents, families and friends of Schafer Park students to support our children. Due to the continuing budget cuts, educational funds are at a minimum. We want to ensure our children’s education is not impacted, and are asking for a donation from all families. In the past we have had membership drives for the PTC club however we feel that all parents of our Schafer Park kids are automatically members, therefore no membership fee is required. The donation we are asking for is to show your support of the PTC and supplement the current and future fundraisers. The PTC knows that the economy has affected all of us at work, home and school – therefore by participating in one or the other we can meet our annual goal of contributing $14 per student to each classroom. You will receive a lovely SPPTC lanyard for your keys as a small token of our appreciation. We are also trying to broaden our communication efforts and the PTC is trying to purchase a sign, which will cost about $$5,500.
“To Create A Community That Celebrates Learning And Cultivate An Atmosphere That Welcomes Family Involvement.”
Please also note, we are an exclusive group of parents who work solely for the benefit of the kids at Schafer Park School. We are not politically connected or affiliated with any groups or organizations outside of Schafer Park.
We are offering rewards to the classrooms that bring in the most donation monies:
Intermediate Grades (4-6)
1st Place $100.00
2nd Place $ 50.00
3rd Place $ 30.00
Primary Grades (K-3)
1st Place $100.00
2nd Place $ 50.00
3rd Place $ 30.00
Please help us to raise money, so we can have another great year at Schafer Park. We look forward to our collaboration with the parents and teachers of our students.
Please make all checks payable to: Schafer Park PTC.
This donation drive begins October 7th and ends October 20th.

Parent Teacher Club
