August, 2001

25, Friday: Office already open: New Students can be registered at Schafer Park School
27, Monday: Teachers work all day to prepare.
28, Tuesday: First Day of Classes for Students

September, 2001

3, Monday - Labor Day Holiday -- No School
27, Thursday - Back to School Night - Parents only, please. 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Meet in Multipurpose Room to begin with.
28, Friday - Teacher Work Day - (Students do not attend classes today)

October, 2001

1, Monday -- Start Hayward's Standardized Test - the A.P.P.L.E. test - finish within a week or so.
3, Wednesday, Picture Day
8, Monday -- The Schafer Park Parent Club -- From 7:00 P.M. in the cafeteria.
10, Wednesday -- Student Council Election Assembly -- Elections will also be held today.
17, Wednesday - the first student council meeting for the year; before school.
22, Monday, School Site Council -- 3 p.m.in "Resource Room."
22, Monday, begins a week of activities against drug abuse called "Red Ribbon Week."
26, Friday, Student Council Spirit Day -- the particular activity is to be announced.
31, Wednesday, Halloween Parade -- begins at 9:45 A.M.

November, 2001

1, Thursday, Teacher Work Day - (Students do not attend classes today)
12, Monday, Veteran's Day Holiday - no school
14, Wednesday, Make-up Picture Day. As before, pay in advance. There are envelopes available in the office if you need one.
19, Monday -- The Schafer Park Parent Club -- From 7:00 P.M. in the cafeteria.
19, Monday -School Site Council - 3:00 p.m.
21, Wednesday: This is the last day of the first trimester. Assignments after this day count for the next grading period.
22 & 23, Thursday and Friday: Thanksgiving holiday - no school
30, Friday, Student Council Spirit Day -- the particular activity is to be announced.

December, 2001

5, Wednesday, Assembly for all students -- "Cinderella."
6, Thursday, Shortened day to begin Parent/Teacher Conferences
7, Friday - Parent/Teacher Conferences No school. Report cards are handed out during the conferences.
10, Monday -- The Schafer Park Parent Club -- From 7:00 P.M. in the cafeteria. (this meeting was canceled)
17, Monday - School Site Council -- 3 p.m.
12, Wednesday -- Winter Concert (5-6 Grade)
21, Friday: Last day of school before the Christmas break.

January, 2002

7, Monday, School Resumes after Christmas break.

March, 2002

5, Tuesday - Honor Chorus practices at Eden Garden School
7, Thursday - Honor Chorus practice
8, Friday, End of the Second Trimester - Report Cards Next Week!
11, Monday -- The Schafer Park Parent Club -- From 7:00 P.M. in the cafeteria. Honor chorus practice
12, Tuesday -- Honor Chorus performs at Chabot College.
20, Wednesday, Assembly for all students -- "Fun with Physics."
21, Thursday- Vision and Hearing testing for Kindergarten, Second and Fifth Grades, and anyone else who is referred.
22, Friday, Student Council Spirit Day -- Crazy Dress-up Day
27, Wednesday -- Spring Picture Day.
29, Friday -- Cesar Chavez Day (holiday) School is not in session on this day.

April, 2002

Grade 5 Physical Fitness exams given this month or early May.
1- 5 Easter Week Holidays (school not in session)
6, Saturday, Celebrations and fund raising at the Schafer Park Shopping Center.
11, Thursday, Spring Concert for grades 1 through 4 starts at 7:00 P.M.
14, Monday -- SABE (Spanish standadized testing) begins today and lasts this week.
15, Monday -- School site council starts at 3:00 P.M.
15, Monday -- The Schafer Park Parent Club -- From 7:00 P.M. in the cafeteria.
22, Monday - SAT9 Standardized testing starts (and continues for a couple weeks)
26, Friday, Student Council Spirit Day -- the particular activity is to be announced.
29, Monday -- Standardized testing (STAR testing) begins today and continues for May 10.

May, 2002

2, Thursday -- International Dessert Night -- performances and snacks from around the world.
13, Monday -- The Schafer Park Parent Club -- From 7:00 P.M. in the cafeteria.
16, Thursday -- Big Arbor Day Celebration !! See the mayor! Hear the choirs! 10:00 A.M.
20, Monday, Spring Concert (grades 5-6)
22, Wednesday, the "Volunteer Tee" will be held after school to honor the many parents and friends who have volunteered their time and efforts to Schafer Park.
24, Friday, Student Council Spirit Day -- the particular activity is to be announced.
27, Monday, Memorial Day Holiday
29, Wednesday, Open House - 7:00 P.M.
31, Friday, The Sixth Grade Field Trip -- all day - this year, the sixth grade field trip will address the "standards."

June, 2002

7, Friday, The Super-reader picnic at Weekes Park for students who completed their "Book-It" home reading assignments on time.
10, Monday -- The Schafer Park Parent Club -- From 7:00 P.M. in the cafeteria.
12, Wednesday - "Play Day" fun and games for students - p.e. all day.- minimum day schedule.
13, Thursday - Last Day of School for students, Sixth Grade Promotion Ceremony - minimum day schedule.
14, Friday -- Teacher work day.
