PTC DONATION DRIVE; April 25 to May 10, 2006
During the 2005-2006 school year the PTC has sponsored only one school fundraiser, we appreciate your generous contribution, as you already know, the funds that we collect go directly to your children’s classroom. We sponsored educational assemblies, field trips, we purchase incentive awards for the perfect attendance assemblies, materials for the teachers to use. Before the end of the year we would like to purchase a sound system for our multipurpose room, enclosed bulleting boards, these two items will help improve the communication in our community. These last two items are costly, more than likely, we will be co-sponsoring with Student Counsil or other funds that may be available.
This year our plan to involve our students in cultural enrichment is taking roots, the PTC is actively participating in the development of our very own Schafer Park School Ballet Folklorico. Our volunteer Ms. Veronica Rios, a full time student at Chabot College comes twice a week to teach our children. The dancers will be performing at the 5 de Mayo Celebration in downtown Hayward, and you will have a chance to see them again at the International Dessert Night. The costumes will be purchase by the PTC, and we will start our wardrobe to use in future performances. We are committed to make this Ballet Folklorico a tradition to Schafer Park School. For the remaining days of the school year we have many events for our students to participate. The PTC will help organize the International Dessert Night, Super Readers Picnic, 6th grade promotion and a couple of Parent Workshops.
In order for us to fund these wonderful activities we would like to appeal to your generosity, we are sending you an envelope attached to this letter and it will be greatly appreciated if you could donate $10.00 per family. We will be giving a special treat to the classrooms (primary and secondary grades separately) that collects the most donations. Encourage other members of your family to help our school. Please fill out the form attached to the envelope and return it to the school as soon as possible. Our donation Drive will continue until May 10, 2006. Make checks payable to Schafer Park PTC.

SCHAFER PARK SCHOOL PARENTS WOULD LIKE TO HAVE UNIFORMS?
A short survey will go home next week. Please let us know how committed you would be in having uniforms for our next school year.
This idea has come from parents that attended a PTC meeting a few months ago.

Our librarian, Ms. Pitlik needs your help, she is coordinating the Scholastic Book Fair that will be visiting our school the week of Open House, Wednesday May 17, in the evening , and Thursday and Friday after Open House. STAR TESTING BEGINS MAY 1, 2006
It’s that time of the year again when our children get to show what they have learned their school year. Please send them to school well rested and make sure they have a nutritious breakfast. They will be testing off and on for a couple of weeks.
Perhaps you are aware of the activities that will take place May 1 , 2006 regarding the immigrant reforms, many are encouraging parents to not send their children to school on that day. We urge you to reconsider, only our children loose if they are not receiving instruction that day. Their education will open doors.

OUR SCHAFER PARK BOYS AND GIRLS SOCCER TEAMS ARE PLAYING EVERY SATURDAY- GO PANTHERS!!!!
Our appreciation to Ms. Lizárraga and Mr. Kwong. You are very dedicated to our children, thank you for giving your time and bringing
us, parents and our children a wonderful athletic experience. We encourage you to take the family to the games, for schedule and information check the bulleting boards outside the cafeteria. Once again: GO PANTHERS!

SCHAFER PARK SWEATSHIRTS AND T-SHIRTS
Our new Schafer Park Sweatshirts and T-Shirts are very popular and from May until the end of the year, we will have SCHAFER PARK FRIDAYS, the PTC will be given treats to the students that wear our clothing. Thank you for showing your Schafer Park spirit.
Every Wednesday after school you have an opportunity to purchase your Schafer Park sweatshirts and t-shirts.
