The Government
Info sites from various arms and branches of the government
When these pages first came to be several years ago, the US government was just clueless enough about the World Wide Web that the best link collections were all on sites not affiliated with the government. I am willing to assume that Mr. Gore told the folks to get busy. However it happened, the government has gotten much better at being accessible online.
There is now a site that describes itself as
"Your first click to the U. S. government"
and it is a pretty good effort.
If you need to go right to the top, the place to start might be The White House. Depending on the outcome of the election, that may put you in touch with the head gushing bore.
If you are like most of us, it is more likely that you will need to contact the Internal Revenue Service where you will find "The Digital Daily: Income Tax Forms, Instructions, Publications, Regulations, and other stuff".
If your tax advisors have already dealt with the IRS, you may want to consult with
The Federal Reserve Board.
If you aren't quite to the stage of needing to talk with central bankers, you might find some help for moving in that direction at The Small Business Administration.
If you are just trying to get the word out, The U. S. Post Office - www.usps.gov may b3e able to help.
If you live on the "left coast" of the USA The California State Home Pagewill probably be of interest to you.
Since you pay for them you may want to enjoy
The Smithsonian Institution Home Page,
or peruse the CIA World Factbook 2000
